Kabul is the capital and largest city in Afghanistan. The seat of power for the country was transferred to Kabul from Kandahar after the US led invasion deposed the Taliban. Located in northeast Afghanistan in a mountain valley of the Hindu Kush mountains, Kabul is approximately a 140 mile drive east to the Pakistani border and a few miles further into Pakistan is the the Khyber Pass. ISAF based their headquarters in Kabul until disbanding in 2014.
